When done well, virtual events can be powerful tools for networking, building relationships, and growing your business.
Here are our top five tips to make sure your next virtual event is a success:
1. Plan, plan, plan – and then plan some more.
As with any event, virtual or otherwise, proper planning is essential to success. This means having a clear understanding of your goals and objectives, and then mapping out a plan to achieve them.
Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to plan and promote your event, as well as to secure speakers, sponsors, and partners. And don’t forget to account for any potential technical difficulties that could arise.
2. Promote, promote, promote.
Getting the word out about your event is key to its success. Utilize all of your channels – social media, email, your website, and even good old-fashioned word of mouth.
Make sure your promotional materials are clear, concise, and easy to find. And be sure to include all the important details, such as date, time, agenda, speakers, and how to register or purchase tickets.
3. Make it interactive!
Virtual events have the unique advantage of being able to offer interactive content and experiences. Utilize this to your advantage by incorporating interactive elements into your event.
This could include things like polls, Q&As, chat rooms, and even games or quizzes. The more interactive your event is, the more engaged your attendees will be – and the more likely they are to remember your event long after it’s over.
4. Keep it short and sweet.
When it comes to virtual events, less is definitely more. No one wants to sit in front of a computer for hours on end, so keep your event short and sweet.
A good rule of thumb is to keep your event to no more than two hours. And if you can keep it under an hour, even better. The shorter your event, the more likely your attendees are to stick around until the end.
5. Follow up after the event.
Once your event is over, don’t forget to follow up with your attendees. Send them a thank-you email, and be sure to include any relevant links or resources from the event.
You can also use this opportunity to survey your attendees and get their feedback on the event. This feedback can be invaluable in planning future events, so be sure to make use of it.
